Step 3:

Once you have made your mind on a certain design, you can now make a list of the things that you will need to achieve your target. Here is a comprehensive list of the things that we need for a classic workable design of this hidden blade.

Let us have a look at them.

    • Drawer Slide:
You will need a 16 inches drawer slide. It will make your knife work properly and will give it its extensibility or retract-ability. You can easily purchase it from any hardware store near you. It will not cost much.

Hence, you will have to be careful with the size of the drawer.

    • Replica of a Blade:
This must be 10.5 inches long and 0.75 inches wide. You must also be careful about choosing the right thickness here. An ideal thickness would be 0.125 inches. Another good idea is to choose a dull blade with rounded edges.

If you are unable to find a blade with rounded edges, you can use sandpaper to smooth them.

    • Coil Spring:
It will give this hidden blade its retract-ability. It must be 3 to 4 inches in length and must have a light pull strength. Its diameter must also be 0.25 inches only.

    • Flat Spring:
You will need this spring to keep the blade in place. It will be of much use when the weapon is extended. You may even construct it on your own by using a hacksaw blade.

    • Nuts, Bolts, washers:
Keep yourself stocked with an assortment of nuts, bolts, and washers. You do not need to worry about their size. You will just have to drill holes according to the size of your nuts, bolts, and washers.

    • Nails:
These will be needed to attach the blade lock.

    • Rubber Washer:
It will serve as a shock absorber when you retract your hidden blade.
